Congratulations, Rick Snyder! Same Sex Marriage Is Legal In Michgan

Four years ago when Republican Governor Rick Snyder promised to reinvent the state of Michigan, it’s hard to believe he would find such an incredible way to prove he is the ?comback kid.? Yesterday the governor’s relentless positive action went all the way to a federal court and overturned the twenty-year ban on same sex marriage signed by former Republican Governor John Engler.

Our one tough nerd who swore an oath to uphold the constitution of the state of Michigan very well may have never seen which direction the universe would take that relentless positive action. Thanks to Judge Friedman, same sex couples in Michigan can now obtain a marriage license and exercise the same civil rights everyone else enjoys. Praise Supply-Side Jesus, Judge Friedman was appointed by the most venerated Republican of all, Saint Ronald Reagan.

Republican Governor Rick Snyder now has the distinction of being the only, if not one of the very few Republicans to have a ban on gay marriage overturned in the state on his watch. I’m sure Michigan Tea Party members are thrilled and can’t wait to shake his hand to congratulate him. This fall when it’s time to vote they will remember that thanks to Rick Snyder men are marrying men and women are marrying women in Michigan.

Attorney General Bill Schuette intends to spend even more state tax money fighting Judge Friedman’s decision because both he and Governor Snyder need those precious Tea Party votes if they expect to have any chance of keeping their jobs. Perhaps however they should reconsider. After all, now that even more people in Michigan can get married, that means more hall renting, more wedding cakes and catering purchased, and more DJs and bands hired for the happy couple to celebrate their special day. That’s more money in Michigan’s economy. That means more jobs.

And isn’t that exactly what Republican Governor Rick Snyder has promised us? I’m sure the Tea Party will forgive him this time. Way to go, one successful nerd!
