Court Chatter

Michael Dunn, the Florida man who shot at a van full of black teenagers in what has come to be known as the “Loud Music” case, was convicted today on three counts of attempted murder as to the teens who were not killed. The jury hung up on a fourth charge, the murder of Jordan Davis, and the judge declared a mistrial on that count. That means that Florida can retry Dunn on the murder charge.?Dunn was also convicted on a single count of “firing into an occupied vehicle” or “discharging a weapon.”?

The three more serious cases each carry a sentence of up to 30 years. State’s Attorney Angela Corey vowed to retry Dunn on the murder charge in Duval County, Florida, just 100 miles from where Trayvon Martin was gunned down.

Tomorrow would have been Jordan Davis’s nineteenth birthday.
