Who Does Chris Christie Think He Is, Nucky Thompson?

nucky

With new revelations springing forward daily on BridgeGate, New Jersey governor Chris Christie is now changing his story from when this scandal first broke late last year. Which in this writers mind begs the question, Who does Chris Christie thinks he is, Nucky Thompson?

Nucky Thompson is a fictional character from the HBO TV series?Boardwalk Empire.

Really, a more accurate question should be who does Chris Christie think he is,?Enoch Lewis “Nucky” Johnson??Johnson was a convicted political boss and racketeer from Atlantic City, New Jersey. The above mentioned HBO TV show is based on the life of Mr. Johnson.

In his State of the State address, Christie apologized and admitted mistakes were made and that there had been a breach of trust towards the citizens of New Jersey. Christie, however, went on to say that the?breach of trust was not the norm of his administration?and that this scandal did not define the people of New Jersey. This writer takes issue with that claim. Already labeled a bully by his political adversaries, my research of Christie tells a different story.

Just this past week,?Governor Christie has changed his story on the bridgegate scandal.

There is no ambiguity that all roads led to Gov. Christie’s inner circle regarding this scandal. What’s at issue is did Christie instigate this political retribution, or did he remain knowingly indifferent to its execution? Looking into Chris Christie’s family background and his behavior in the past gives one a snap-shot of his DNA.

The Chris Christie Mafia Connection

  • Christie’s Aunt was married to the Genovese crime family.
  • The connection is with Tino Fiumara?who has twice been convicted of racketeering and sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.
  • Fiumara has also been linked to several murders by the investigators.
  • It is also common knowledge that members of mafia marry into other mafia families.

Quite frankly, it appears that Christie’s family connections to the mob go deep. Even though, Fiumara is no Godfather, law?enforcement involved have put on record that Fiumara sits on a three-person panel that oversees the Genovese family. The relevance to this family connection is just one example how being deceptive is not an adoration for Christie as he claims in this current scandal and State of the State address. It is more or less a pattern of behavior.

For example, during his background check by the FBI for the job as ?US Attorney General, ?Christie hid his mob connection from the FBI. The arrogance of Christie was evident when this deception was unveiled, Christie replied, that his“mafia connections were a personal matter and not a professional matter.” Moreover, in a 2007 interview with the New York Times, Christie was asked why he was tougher on public corruption and street gangs than on organized crime and Christie replied:

The Mafia is much more prominent on HBO than in New Jersey.

What is striking, upsetting, and criminal in this writer’s view, is how can the people of New Jersey and America tolerate, support or defend a current sitting governor and potential presidential candidate in 2016 who oversaw a judicial dogma that suggests a different standard of justice to those who can and will line the pockets and make deals for political favor. Is this the type of person We The People?want to oversee our best interest and the common good?

There is a current issue right now where tax payer money for Sandy relief in New Jersey has fallen prey to Gov. Christie’s cronyism and corruption, which is just another example that Chris Christie is far from the standout guy his publicist and public relations people would have us believe.

Adam Gordon, who is a staff attorney for the Fair Share Housing Center in New Jersey filed a lawsuit last year against the State of New Jersey for not releasing documents related to the recovery efforts overseen by the Christie administration. Gordon stated:

“The Christie Administration’s widespread rejection of large numbers of families actually eligible for Sandy aid shows that the Sandy recovery process has been flawed from start to finish.” (Source-?Daily Kos)

Lastly, Chris Christie has put on record that his administration would cooperate with the investigation on the bridgegate scandal. But, once again it appears Christie is a whole lot of verbiage than substance. With subpoenas flying like pizza pies?and Christie’s inner circle pleading the 5th like a request for extra cheese, one cannot help but think back to the days of the real Nucky Thompson, Enoch Nucky Johnson. With the latest Christie aid to receive a subpoena pleading the 5th, it is a fair observation, to make note of the maiden name of the aide in question, Christina Genovese Renna, that’s right Genovese. Are we, in fact, seeing history repeat itself ?and once again begs the question, who does Chris Christie think he is, Nucky Thompson?
