Cyber Attacking And Profiting Off Of The ACA

The Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that there have been seventeen unsuccessful Distributed Denial of Service (cyber) attacks,?launched against the HealthCare.gov website.? No details as to who is behind the attacks have been released.

This comes on the heels of news that California Attorney General, Kamala Harris, after a month long investigation, has ordered the shutdown of ten fake Obamacare websites that were attempting to misdirect consumers to private insurance companies not affiliated with the official ?Covered California? website.? The operators of the allegedly fraudulent websites contacted by the Attorney General’s office have all agreed to have their sites either:

Deactivated or redirected to the official exchange website.

This all comes after the ongoing efforts by scammers from Massachusetts, to Alabama, to Kansas, to Nevada, and Arizona to:

trick seniors and low income consumers?into divulging personal information and paying for fictitious insurance plans.

These telemarketers scare customers into believing that they might go to jail if they don’t sign up for Obamacare and to then fork over the low monthly payments they say will allow them to comply with the law.

Then there is yet another Fox News Channel fake outrage from someone claiming that ?Obamacare made me close my business? story.? Bill Lawrence,?who owned Bubbles Car Wash with 13 locations in and around the Houston, Texas area, with 290 employees, said to have recently sold the company, ?to a private equity firm for what he admitted was a tremendous price.?

Mr. Lawrence was invited onto the Fox Nation show, hosted by Megyn Kelly, after?posting on Facebook that he sold his business?because of Obamacare.??It seems that was not entirely true.

Eric Stern of Salon.com spoke to Mr. Lawrence. ?It was then that Mr.? Lawrence basically admitted that there were many reasons that he sold his business now, in 2013, when the requirements of Obamacare would not affect his business until 2015.? Mr. Lawrence rattled off a variety of other reasons why he sold out, including the fact that he had been approached by the private equity firm three or four years ago looking to buy the business before Obamacare existed.

Mr. Lawrence then spent over a year attending seminars, getting legal advice, and consulting with insurance experts before selling.? He also expressed how happy he was to be retired after spending 22 years in business while also admitting that his business had been generating about 13 million dollars in annual revenue leaving a net profit, after his own salary, of close to one million dollars per year.

We are still waiting for the apology and the correction from the Fox News Channel for the false and misleading claims, such as those of Mr. Lawrence, which are regularly promoted at that particular cable ?news? channel.? LiberalAmerica.org?has covered these same kinds of claims??in the past.

When it comes to the ACA, otherwise known as Obamacare, the GOP/Teabully crowd will stop at nothing to demonize, mess it up, or otherwise attempt to dupe people into believing it is something that it is not.? If you listen to the opponents of the ACA, it is a Communist/Socialist plot by the Muslim Kenyan who is coming to take away the insurance and doctors people already have and love.? Those opponents could use the free primer on ?Ism?s? available at LiberalAmerica.org?and they should also think about how so many people really hate their present junk insurance policy, especially when they discover it won’t pay their hospital and doctor bills if they happen to get really sick.

But the really awful thing about the cyber-attacks on the HealthCare.gov website, and the fake Cover California websites, and the telemarketing scams nationwide attempting to fraudulently to use the ACA as a means of making money off of the elderly and the poor, is this. When it comes to Conservatives, it is all about the money.? They will say and do anything to fleece America’s pocket.

Taking Bill Lawrence as an example, shouldn’t Conservatives be thanking President Obama and the ACA for providing the impetus for selling a business that generates almost a million dollars a year in net profits for such a tremendous price while stile leaving 290 jobs in place?? Of course, once that private equity firm took over the business, there is no guarantee that any of those fine $10 an hour, no benefit jobs would be sticking around.

What is that saying?? A fool and his money are soon parted.? Let’s not be fooled, again, by the GOP/Teabully Party.
