Facebook Selfies Of Extremely Hot Mexican Drug Cartels

Mexican Drug Cartel Selfies

The Mexican drug cartels are trying to romance their lifestyle and seduce us. I guess. They’ve taken to social media to post sexy selfies and videos showcasing their philanthropic efforts. They’re also using social media to track down targets by watching their movements. Very clever. Really.

From the Open Empowerment Initiative, an organization whose mission is to “investigate how cyberspace is shaping citizen and state-society relations in Latin America”:

Yet criminals too are also rapidly colonizing Latin American cyberspace. Enterprising criminal groups, street gangs and drug cartels use online platforms to organize and advertise their activities, recruit members, intimidate authorities and citizens, extort money and hire-out contract killers. The region also features disturbingly high rates of credit card fraud and identity theft.

From Vice:

“They [Mexican drug cartels] advertise their activities, they conduct public relations initiatives, and they have basically turned themselves into their own media company,” Antoine Nouvet of the SecDev Foundation explained. “Colombia’s cartel groups or drug traffickers in Myanmar in the 1990s were very sophisticated at public relations, but they didn’t have this massive broadcasting platform.”

The photos, which are embarrassingly public (what is up with the folks who are trying to capture these dudes?), show sexy poses, photos with guns, and even, in one, perhaps the ultimate display of power:?a pet tiger riding openly, albeit chained, in what appears to be a jeep.

See, it’s stuff like this that make us understand bad boy appeal. Are there women out there who would not have, in their feckless youth, been secretly tempted to just one hot steamy night with the ultimate bad boy? Back in the day, I mean. And hopefully younger women. Surely someone my age, for example, wouldn’t be attracted to these bad boys. Right, ladies? Right???

Sadly, the Mexican drug cartels tactics will probably be effective. Much as Hollywood romanticized the Mafia and even street gangs, social media will romanticize these fellas. I predict that we’ll begin seeing posters and fan clubs soon.?Dios m?o.
