Grandfather Slams His Daughter Over Disowning Her Gay Son

Sometimes the traits of empathy, love, and fairness behave like red hair or blue eyes and skip a generation. In the case of one young gay man, it was his grandfather who stood up for what is right.

A story on the Human Rights Campaign website reveals that an unnamed man was kicked out of his mother’s home for being gay. His grandfather wrote a scathing letter to his own daughter that outlines his disappointment in her.

“Kicking Chad out of your home simply because he told you he was gay is the real ?abomination? here. A parent disowning her child is what goes against nature. The only intelligent thing I head you saying in all this was that ‘you didn’t raise your son to be gay.’ Of course you didn’t. He was born this way and didn’t choose it anymore than he being left-handed? If you find your heart, give us a call.”

This grandfather is probably painfully aware of the statistics that show that 40 percent of homeless youth are gay and he’s likely aware of the psychological and practical influence this incident will have on his grandson’s life overall.?

He quickly dismisses his daughter, saying:

“While we are in the business of disowning our children, I think I’ll take this moment to say goodbye to you. I now have a fabulous (as the gay put it) grandson to raise.”
