Ahhh, Fox News. The gift that keeps on giving. Gotta give it to them though- they do attempt at least a pretense at liberalism. Said pretense currently comes in the form of?Fox News The Five?host Bob Beckel. ?Beckel recently suggested that unless “moderate Muslims,” “publicly?stand up and denounce what’s happened in the name of your prophet” that the United States should halt all construction of new Mosques. Mighty liberal of him, eh?
According to?The Raw Story,?these declarations came during Saturday’s episode of?The Five,?when Beckel and co- host Eric Bolling were talking about the tragic attacks on a mall in Nairobi, Kenya, in which more than 60 lives were lost, and which resulted in a siege that lasted for days. The attack is the work of Muslim al Shabaab gunmen. As the conversation progressed, Bolling said:
?They say Islam is the religion of peace, but they have to start proving it. And they are not proving it anywhere.?
Beckel took that line of thinking and ran with it:
?They are not the religion of peace. Listen, if people who are supposedly peaceful, you moderate Muslims out there. Now listen, I know I have been on this thing for a long time, but the time has come for you stand up and say something.
And I will repeat what I said before: No Muslim students coming here with visas. No more mosques being built here until you stand up and denounce what’s happened in the name of your prophet. It is not what your prophet meant as soon as I know. I don’t know his mother’s name and I don’t care. The point is, that the time has come for Muslims in this country and other people in the world to stand up and be counted, and if you can’t, you’re cowards.?
This kind of obvious prejudice should have no place on America’s airwaves, and it certainly should not be touted as “news.” And this is what Fox calls liberal?
Raw Story received an exclusive update and statement from Linda?Sarsour National Advocacy Director of the National Network of Arab Communities:
?All national Muslim organizations including?CAIR,MPAC?and prominent Muslim-American leaders have denounced the violence in Kenya.?Minnesota Islamic and Somali groups?have also condemned the attacks. Just because Beckel and similar bigot cronies aren’t listening, that’s not our problem.?
See Beckel? Listen before you open that trap of yours on national television. Sarsour continued:
?Building religious organizations and institutions by any faith communities in the U.S. are not contingent on the acts of a few individuals.?
So true. How would they like it if all Christians or all Americans were blamed for the nutball fringe’s actions? Oh, wait…they?are?the nutball fringe…
But I digress. Good job, Ms. Sarsaour. Bolling and Beckel- shame on you.
