Watch This Gay Democratic Candidate “Come Out” To Tea Party Dad

Having to come out to your Tea Party dad as gay is one thing, but what about when you have to come out to him as, of all things, a liberal Democrat? ?Well,?Carl Sciortino Jr. has done just that in an adorable and witty campaign ad for a seat in the Massachusetts House.

Sciortino Jr. and his “oh so reluctant” tea party father go back and forth over the “embarrassing” things that candidate Sciortino believes in.

“I’ll never forget that conversation with my dad where I had to come out and tell him that I was a Massachusetts liberal,” says?Sciortino Jr in the ad.

“And he’s?proud?of it,” retorts Sciortino Sr.

While?Sciortino Jr. boasts his position on such things as gun control, equally pay for women, equal rights and woman’s right to choose,?his father Sciortino Sr.?pretends to “mock” him for taking on the big banks, and writing a buffer zone law to keep protestors away from abortion provider facilities that ended up all the way at the supreme court.

In statement regarding the campaign ad, Sciortino Jr. said that?”My father and I disagree on just about everything. ?I am grateful that he was willing to appear in my TV ad even though he probably thinks he should be running against me.”

According to the Huffington Post,?Sciortino is currently a member of the Massachusetts House, and is running to fill Sen. Ed Markey’s (D) empty House seat, noting that “the special election in the heavily Democratic district is?set for Dec. 10, with the primary on Oct. 15. Sciortino is?facing four other Democratic candidates.”
