Krystal Ball Calls Republicans The New Jim Crow (VIDEO)

Krystal Ball, the co-host of MSNBC’s “The Cycle,” lambasted the Republican party early last week in a brilliant opinion piece. She thanked them for taking the place of Jim Crow.

Starting with a congratulations to the organizers of the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, Krystal Ball quickly went into a brilliant, three-minute segment that wove a fascinating portrait of recent actions by the GOP and how they are benefiting democracy and the Democratic Party.

While humorously thanking the GOP for stand your ground laws, immigration insensitivity, and the rash of voter fraud prevention laws, she credits the Republicans for making voting ?cool? again.

The original March on Washington focused on ending Jim Crow laws which prevented blacks from voting, Mrs. Ball correctly points out that without a single issue to rally around, it can be difficult to excite the people and get them out to vote.

Over the past few years the speeches and policies of the Republicans have made the GOP a firebrand, engaging voters to take note of the actions of their elected officials. She questions why is the party that fought to end Jim Crow so willing to destroy their brand instead of helping to get Democratic voters out to the polls?
