Dr. Ben Carson Betrays Young Black Men, Dismisses Pres. Obama’s Struggles (VIDEOS)

Successful pediatric neurosurgeon and Washington times columnist Dr. Ben Carson once again took to the national stage to pretend that he has never experienced struggle, racial profiling, and discrimination as a black man.?With his primary goal being to belittle Pres. Barack Obama’s remarks about Trayvon’s death and George Zimmerman’s acquittal, Carson pretended that he just wants to see everyone get along and move forward. He feels a little sympathy for the Trayvon Martin family, but let’s soften the “rhetoric,” shall we??

On “Fox News Sunday” with Chris Wallace, he had the audacity to suggest that skin color is “superficial.”?How did he come to that conclusion? Well, because he’s a neurosurgeon and the human brain, his area of expertise, is what makes people “who they are.”

We have a tendency to overemphasize the superficial. You know, I was asked once by an NPR reporter why I don’t talk about race that often. And I said it’s because I’m a neurosurgeon. And she looked at me quite quizzically. And I said, you see, when I take someone to the operating room and I peel down the scalp and take off the bone flap and open the dura, I’m operating on the thing that makes the person who they are. It’s not the covering that makes them who they are. (Raw Story)

He does acknowledge that the laws need to be examined. Or…well…what everyone else, including the president, is already suggesting. But great idea, Dr. Carson! Why didn’t we think of that?

That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t?look carefully at all of our laws, [that]?we shouldn’t look carefully at?this verdict and at this outcome [and] make sure everything has been?done correctly, the I’s have been dotted, the T’s crossed. But let’s tone down the rhetoric and?recognize that we, the people,?are not each other’s enemies.? (National Review)

He also acknowledged that yeah, ok, so it really does suck that this injustice occurred.

I understand why there’s a lot of outrage. You have a situation where you have a young black male, walking home, not doing anything incorrect and he ends up killed and nobody suffers consequences. On the surface, that would appear to be a gross miscarriage of justice.

But…but…but…

At the end of the day, it’s pretty much White America’s the legal system’s call, you know?

We have a legal system in which we appoint jurors and which they have access to all of the facts. We don’t have access to all of the facts and in which they then make a judgment. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s the best system that we have, and we have to decide whether we’re willing to live with that or not.

Rep. Donna Edwards (D-MA) could barely maintain her composure throughout the doctor’s remarks. She felt compelled to point out the obvious to Dr. Ben Carson:

But Dr. Carson, really to be clear, there really are deep systemic problems that really impact African-Americans in this system that have to be addressed and I think the president spoke to some of those. And so, we can’t ignore that.?(Raw Story)

And kudos to Rep. Edwards for reminding Dr. Carson that he himself has enjoyed the benefits of civil rights. I’m pretty sure she’s wasting her breath. This likely isn’t something that the good doctor hasn’t already heard hundreds of times.

And I’m going to acknowledge like anyone else that everything is not about race but there are some things that are, and we have to acknowledge those and we have to make the systemic changes that are important to advance all of our communities so that people really can enjoy those things and the benefits, frankly, that Dr. [Ben] Carson has enjoyed.

Of course, Dr. Ben Carson has, in the past, accused “white liberals” of being the true racists?in our society. Yeah, those Confederate flag wavers ain’t nothing compared to “white liberals.”

Dr. Ben Carson may be the great black hope for the GOP, but ultimately the black community (and the “white liberal” racist community) knows who and what Carson is. One thing that “white liberals” are guilty of is accusing the GOP of using Dr. Carson to “assuage their guilt” because they GOP is inherently racist. But “white liberals” are wrong about that. Very wrong. The GOP has doesn’t feel guilt. ?That needs to be understood. The GOP is guilty of using Dr. Ben Carson to further their own agenda. Dr. Carson is the GOP’s “great black hope” in the same way that Sen. Marco Rubio was their “great Hispanic hope.” We all know how that turned out for Sen. Rubio. I don’t want to appear to be insulting to Dr. Ben Carson’s accomplishments and capabilities. I just firmly believe that there is no role for anyone who isn’t white in today’s Republican party.
