Lewis Black to Rick Perry: ‘F*** you Texas’

Texas Governor Rick Perry’s?job poaching?campaign has reached New York state ?and caught the attention of comedian Lewis Black ?- and Mr. Black is not happy. ?Black appeared in an edition of ?”Back in Black“?on Wednesday’s episode of ?”The Daily Show”?to show his own ad for New York.

Black comments on Perry being one of the “gifts that keeps on giving” and plays snippets of his ad to Illinois. That said, ?Illinois employers need to get out “while there is still time” and “the escape route leads straight to Texas.” Which, actually, it does not; you have to go through Missouri and Oklahoma.

The New York video that Black plays celebrates the diversity of New York and points out how Texas does not have anything anywhere near that to offer. He ends his tirade with the ?New York saying ?”F’ you Texas” in a variety of languages.

Rick Perry has definitely had a busy summer. He has closed Planned Parenthood clinics across his state, put in place one of the most restrictive abortion laws in history, and started confiscating tampons at the capital. ?According to the U.S. Department of Education,?Texas proudly includes itself in the bottom third of the states with high school graduation rates. Rick Perry’s reaction to this was to cut school funding- a sure-fire way to improve schools.

Rick Perry is getting ahead of himself, petitioning employers from other states, when he does not have an educated population to work the jobs. As a result of his busy summer, educated women are sure to move elsewhere along with smart people who do not want to live in a state that values guns over education.

Rick Perry really has nothing to offer employers and his campaign ads show that. Instead of focusing on some positive aspects of the state of Texas he chooses to focus on how bad the other states are.

However, I think Lewis Black solved that problem in his commentary. ?In response to Rick Perry’s California ad Black said, ?”Rick Perry doesn’t know it but he just doubled Texas’s porn industry and tripled its number of skateboarding pan-handlers.” ?Good thing…as was pointed out Texas does need to diversify.

Sadly– for Texans– Governor Rick Perry has put the state in a position where people who consider themselves, progressive, intelligent, and well-educated will not move there. Lewis Black said it best:

People come here from all over the world. For the freedom to live as they choose, for the variety of cultures, but most of all: for the fact that it’s not Texas.

Congrats Rick Perry.
