Did the court give George Zimmerman his gun back??In the wake of the acquittal of George Zimmerman, the internet has been buzzing with discussions about racism. Accusations are flying amongst all sides that if Zimmerman had been black or if Trayvon Martin had been white then Zimmerman would be in jail right now. Legitimate questions with hard answers — distracting us as a nation from the important issue of gun rights. If George Zimmerman had a gun, Trayvon Martin would not be dead right now. Race aside, a person cannot shoot someone without a gun. So in a sickening gesture, the courts gave George Zimmerman his gun back.
George Zimmerman’s Attorney’s Request That Zimmerman Be Given His Gun For Protection
The?Huffington Post reports that George Zimmerman was given his gun back, quoting his lawyer as saying he needed his weapon now “even more.” Zimmerman has been receiving death threats so now he fears for his life again. So he can shoot another “threatening” person again? This may be conjecture here but for what other reason would he need his gun?
The words “even more” are a powerful statement about society today. On the CNN show “Piers Morgan,” ?Zimmerman’s lawyer makes a statement saying his client is not safe.
First of all, my client will never be safe, because there are a percentage of the population who are angry, they’re upset, and they may well take it out on him. So, he’ll never be safe.
Sir, your client will never be safe because the angry people have guns.
America Is Not Using The 2nd Amendment As Intended
The NRA and its supporters cling to the 2nd Amendment like it’s a ?Bible and they are stuck in a room full of devils. This is what the 2nd Amendment says?:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
This document was written at a time when we had to defend ourselves against the tyranny of a government and America was fighting for its freedom. Times have changed. Our government is waging a war on us but they are not using guns; they are using laws and amendments.
According to the Brady Campaign, more than 100,000 people per year are shot. Other than police incidents, none of them have been due to someone protecting themselves from a government militia.
The government is waging war on our freedoms. It is eroding away women’s rights, our right to privacy , keeping us down economically, and allowing the Bible into our politics. It has let us cling to our “right” to bear arms and we are using it to shoot each other senselessly. They really do not need a militia.
When this thing blows over –and it will — America will be left with ?nothing but ?more hatred, more distrust, and its guns. Our citizens will still be living in fear and another Zimmerman-type case will surely pop up. We will go back to calling names and fighting over who has it worse and guns will still be on the streets. ?We will ?continue keeping each other down so the government does not have to.
George Zimmerman getting his gun back is nothing but a slap on the face to Americans. A cruel irony. We need a gun to keep us safe from the people who have guns. All of America should be offended.
