Wendy Davis Inspires New Songs As Her Message Rockets ‘Round The World (VIDEOS)

Thanks to the phenomenon of social media, images of State Senator Wendy Davis’ emotion-packed filibuster in Austin, Texas last month quickly ricocheted around the world. Thousands upon thousands followed the action live and, ever since, have voiced their support for her effort to stop the curtailment of women’s reproductive rights. Some have declared Governor Rick Perry the victor in this battle, but those poor souls haven’t the vision to see that, while Perry may have won the battle, Davis is likely to win the war.

The Senator’s stand has been so inspiring that songs are being written about her. An Austin band, The Bright Light Social Hour, immediately set video footage from their cell phones, along with the cheers of the crowd in the gallery, to music. The instrumental song the band created is so powerful, it moved me to tears. Watch the video of ‘Wendy Davis’ and re-experience the momentum that is making this heroine an internationally recognized figure:

A second tune, ‘Wendy Davis Eyes’ written by Melody Simon and performed by Lance Keltner, is a rockin’ love letter that makes the heart swell in appreciation of America’s new sweetheart. As the song says:

She’ll take on good old boys

Roll you like you were dice

until you come up blue

She’s got Wendy Davis eyes

But listen for yourself:

My money was already on Wendy Davis to ultimately come out ahead in this fight, even if it takes her running for governor. Now that she’s been set to music, I’m betting that she’s unstoppable. Who could resist ‘Wendy Davis Eyes’?
