The Constitution of the United States has only been amended 27 times. The first 10 amendments are otherwise known as “The Bill of Rights“. These rights, such as the freedom of religion, were more fully explained so as to prevent “misconstruction or abuse of its powers.” Apparently, many of the people on the Fox News programs require a refresher course in American Government and American History. I am not often surprised by anything Fox “News” says or does anymore, and this not only surprised me; it made me angry. Ann Coulter actually told Sean Hannity that Katherine Russell, wife of Tamerlan Tsnarnaev, should “be in prison for wearing a hijab.”

She is now saying that her comment was not taken out of context but it was meant to be a joke. Just like when she called President Obama a retard TWICE on Twitter during one debate. She was called out on her choice of words by John Franklin Stevens in a blog post on the Special Olympics site and this fabulous confrontation with Piers Morgan about it.

Ann has taken the “it’s just a joke” tactic right out of the bully handbook as explained by anti-bullying site?risk(within)reason:

In dismissing it all as a joke, they are doing two things that are tip-offs to bullying:

  1. they are showing?a lack of remorse?for the hurt they caused;
  2. they are?blaming their targets?for feeling hurt and daring to articulate it.

Ms. Coulter did both when she said “screw them” and called her critics “word police.” (Source: Huffington Post)

The irony is that it is the same First Amendment that gives her the right to say what she wants — no matter how stupid — that protects Katherine’s right to practice her religion freely. I love Jon Stewart’s take on it.
